Parts of engine -4

HELLO FRIENDS,

Previous article we have discuss parts of engine crankcase, cylinder liner and piston introduction. In this article we have discuss material  of  piston and piston  clearance.

So…..lets start,😊

Material  for piston :

The material used for piston is mainly aluminium alloy. Aluminium piston can be either cast or forged. Cast iron is also used for piston. Yearly  cast iron was almost universal  material for piston because it's excellent  wearing qualities, co-efficient of expansion and general  suitability in manufacture. Due to reduce of weight of metal is necessary, light metal is lost. Aluminium is inferior to cast iron in strength and wearing qualities, and it's greater  co-efficient of expansion greater clearance in the cylinder to avoid the risk  of seizures.
The thermal heat conductivity of aluminium  is about three times that of cast iron and this combined  with greater thickness necessary for strength, enable an aluminium alloy piston to run at much lower  temperature than a cast iron.

Piston clearance :

Piston are usually small in diameter then the bore of the cylinder. The space  between the cylinder and cylinder wall is called  the piston clearance.

Reason of piston  clearance:

1. Space for a film of lubricant between cylinder wall and piston to reduce friction

2. Very high operating temperature, piston and cylinder block expand. The cylinder is cooled better than the piston, hence sufficient clearance for piston to expand, failing which the piston seizures will result.

3. If there is no clearance between cylinder wall and piston, it will be impossible for the piston to reciprocate in the cylinder.

Piston clearance depands upon the size of the cylinder bore and the metal used in the piston. Generally 0.025mm to 0.100mm. This clearance is filled with oil so that the piston and rings move on films of oils. Proper  clearance  should  be maintained between  piston and cylinder wall. If the clearance is too small, then  will be loss of power from excessive friction, were and possible seizure of  the cylinder. If clearance is too much, then piston slap will result. Piston slap means sudden  tilting of the cylinder as the piston down  on the  power stroke. The cylinder  to other sufficient  force to produce a distinct noise.

in piston cylinder some details are show on the.... next aritical never miss....
Thank you🤗

We will describe step by step are deails on our website.I hope completely understand what is types  automobile and work of automobile can you more details are understand so you are subscribed my website and any queries regarding of automobile writing on comments box and share link I will give very fast reply and thank you for read this article.

IC Engine

Hello friends, Show my previous articles for automobile engines details and this articles show on how supply fuel in engine?  the basic construction of  the carburetor of the carburetor can be divide into the part of where the gasoline fuel and air are mixture and float chamber or the part where  constant amount of gasoline is always stored and this articles we have show how working on IC engine and its operation so lets start this IC engines( Internal combution engine) are those heat engine burn the fuel in cylinder.on the other side external coumbution engine are heat engine that burn their fuel out side the cylinder thoes are steam engine.what is steam engine? this is my next topic so we will continue this topic.the energy devlopement during the coumbustion in steam engine fuel transmited to steam, which act piston inside the cylinder. in internal coumbustion engine are work on the supply fuel inside and burn the fuel in transfer work in chemical energy to...
